NM utility officials say Melody Ranch moving in the right direction after ‘complete’ water outage

New Mexico utility officials say they’re closer to a solution for a troubled small-town water provider.

In 2025, residents of a small community outside of Edgewood known as Melody Ranch reported problems with their water. A July filing with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission says residents were “experiencing a water system breakdown and complete disruption of water service.” The culprit, PRC filings say, was an old cliche: The well ran dry.

“The cause for the complete disruption of water service is that the well Melody Ranch uses to provide water to the community is not producing enough water to meet demand,” officials wrote in the July document…
