New Mexico State Police Chief announces retirement

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler announced his retirement on Tuesday, according to an email from Chief Weisler to staff obtained by KRQE News 13. The email states that his retirement will be effective Friday, March 13.

Chief Weisler is the 23rd New Mexico State Police Chief. Weisler was a patrol officer in Deming and Moriarty in 2002 before taking on various investigatory roles in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. In 2021, he became deputy chief.

“I know many of you have questions about the future,” Chief Weisler’s email to staff states. “I have complete confidence in the amazing State Police Chief’s Staff and know they will continue the outstanding work they have done throughout my tenure. It is my hope and expectation that a new Chief — either interim or permanent — will be announced by the end of next week,” the email continues…
