ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News 13 is working to learn more about a plane crash in northeast Albuquerque at Los Altos Golf Course that killed one person on Friday. Neighbors near the golf course flocked to this area to see what was going on, but for one woman who saw it all happen, she couldn’t believe her eyes. “I was thinking, wow, that’s really low. I’ve never seen a plane that low before, and I kinda watched it because it caught my attention….It was so quick, one minute it was there and the next it wasn’t,” said Sophia Collins.
One dead, another injured after small plane crashes at Los Altos Golf Course
“I watched it go towards the golf course, and all I saw was leaves, and dust, and debris fly up. Did I actually see a plane crash just now?” said Collins.
Collins quickly dialed 242-COPS to report it. “Hey, is this where you call this, or is that 911, and they were like oh I guess golfers had already made the call,” Collins said.
New Mexico State Police confirmed a single-engine plane crashed at Los Altos while trying to make an emergency landing. Police said two people were on board. One person died at the hospital, and the other is in critical condition. No one on the ground was injured. After the plane went down, neighbors left their homes to see the scene for themselves…
