Tonight’s sunset will be at 7:08 pm in Albuquerque, while our sunrise will be at 7:26 a.m. For the foreseeable future, we will be gaining daylight, and in the next 9-10 days, we will have 12 hours of daylight.

This morning, temperatures are chilly, but seasonable in the Duke City as temperatures fall near the freezing point around the metro area. Today, warmer weather is on tap as a weak ridge of high pressure develops in the upper atmosphere over the state. Breezy down-sloping winds are forecasted for this afternoon in northeast New Mexico that will also lead to fire danger in our eastern counties. From 12-8 pm the National Weather Service (NWS) will issue a Red Flag Warning for northeast New Mexico for the gusty winds, mild temperatures, and low relative humidity values. The organization is also expecting to issue a Fire Weather Watch on Monday for counties east of the central mountain chain. Temperatures throughout the next two days will increase throughout the state by Monday due to the aforementioned ridge of high pressure and breezy winds.
High temperatures on Tuesday afternoon will be cooler than the previous two days, but will still remain on the mild to warm side for most. Our next weathermaker will arrive by Tuesday afternoon brining rainfall, storm chances, and mountain snow to the higher elevations primarily south of I-40. This weathermaker will be an upper-level low-pressure system that will move northeast from the Baja region. A backdoor cold front is also expected to slide through eastern New Mexico late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, likely bringing breezy conditions with it.
