Man convicted of assault, exploitation of Honduran teen

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – A jury in New Mexico on Monday convicted a man of eight criminal charges in connection with repeated sexual abuse of a Honduran teenager.

Bernalillo County jurors found Alberto Carpio Villanueva guilty on three counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, two counts of child abuse, two counts of intimidation of a witness and one count of child exploitation.

The charges stem from acts allegedly perpetrated on the minor beginning in April 2021. Carpio Villanueva allegedly gained access to the 15-year-old girl posing as her uncle and raped her repeatedly during a two-month period, according to the Office of the Second Judicial District Attorney in New Mexico…
