Hobbs girls outlast La Cueva

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Hobbs Lady Eagles and La Cueva Bears battled in a girls class 5A quarterfinal in the Pit on Tuesday evening. Hobbs pulled though in the end to win it 63-55.

La Cueva hung around for nearly the entire game and managed to keep it a one-possession game late into the fourth quarter. The Lady Eagles then proceeded to have their best shooting period of the game, going 7-16.

Hobbs found success in converting turnovers into points. The Eagles racked up 16 steals and scored 26 points off turnovers.

Three Hobbs players scored in double-figures. 8th grader Xoey Ross led the team with 17 points.

With the win, Hobbs moves on to play Albuquerque High in the semi-finals on Thursday at 9:45 a.m…
