Albuquerque defense attorney accused of attempting to smuggle drugs into prison

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque defense attorney was arrested this week, accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the Cibola County Correctional Center.

Three Colorado residents accused of trafficking drugs in New Mexico

Brian Pori, 64, was charged with bringing contraband onto prison grounds. According to court documents, Pori was going to meet an inmate on Wednesday. While he was going through a security point at the prison’s visitor entrance, a correctional officer found suboxone strips in the inner lining of Pori’s eyeglass case.

The strips are a prescription narcotic often used to treat addiction, but can be abused.

An officer from the Milan Police Department responded to the prison and detained Pori pending an investigation. The officer read Pori his Miranda rights, after which Pori asked, according to court documents, “What if I am an attorney?”…
