RIO RANCHO – Several track and field athletes from Bloomfield High School made strong showings Saturday at the Cleveland Invitational, highlighted by top finishes in hurdles and sprint events.
Senior Evani Velasquez was a standout, finishing ninth overall in a 38‑runner field in the 100‑meter dash with a time of 12.65 seconds. Velasquez finished seventh in the sixth trial heat of the day, which was the fastest of the invite, won by Syrianna Raphiel of Clovis High School.
Ryli Heckman and Renee Hines also excelled in hurdles events. The Bobcats placed two runners in the top six in the 100‑meter hurdles, with Heckman finishing third overall in 16.42 seconds. Hines placed sixth overall in 17.46 seconds…
