NMSP works with Homeland Security to arrest man in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico State Police worked with Homeland Security Investigations to arrest a man allegedly in the country without authorization and with drugs and a gun on him.

NMSP confirmed they worked with HSI to arrest Jesus Anselmo Meza-Lopez. It happened during a March 9 traffic stop on I-40 in Cibola County, about 20 miles west of Albuquerque.

At around 4:02 a.m., an NMSP officer pulled Meza-Lopez over for allegedly speeding and following too closely. NMSP deployed a K9 officer to sniff for drugs in the vehicle, leading to the discovery of 45.7 pounds of meth, 100.6 grams of fentanyl and a loaded Glock 30 handgun…
