More affordable housing coming to west Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – More affordable housing is coming to Albuquerque’s westside as the city is set to redevelop an already existing housing complex.

On Thursday, the City of Albuquerque and the Albuquerque Housing Authority held a groundbreaking ceremony at Casitas del Camino, located on 60th Street NW. The redevelopment and expansion project will provide 88 affordable two to four-bedroom housing units for families and a community building.

“It’s part of the work that we’ve needed to do for a long time,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “It’s an acknowledgement that this is a special place, but it’s in need of a whole lot of refresh and reinvestment, and especially in the housing area.
