Southwest Chocolate and Coffee Festival returns to Albuquerque for 16th year

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — It’s a festival combining two of America’s favorites – coffee and chocolate. Moreover, it’s back in Albuquerque for its 16th year.

The Southwest Chocolate and Coffee Festival was founded in 2009 by Dean Strober and his wife, Lena Strober. They’d just moved from New York City to Albuquerque. While looking for a job, they started to consider putting together their own event. And in Dean’s words, they wanted to “create an event they would go to.” Thus, the coffee and chocolate festival came about.

Since then, it’s grown from about 40 vendors to over 200 vendors, while also attracting over 20,000 coffee and chocolate lovers. The event hosts local chocolate shops, as well as companies from all over the world, including Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and Panama…
