Man accused of deadly road rage shooting remains behind bars

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man accused of killing a 19-year-old in a road rage shooting appeared in court for a detention hearing Friday.

Police say 32-year-old Cecilio Lopez is suspected of shooting and killing Roman Valenciano on San Mateo and Constitution. Police say Lopez tried a U-turn but crossed into Valenciano’s path and hit the brakes. They said Lopez then sped up to Valencia’s car and opened fire, hitting and killing him. Officers used license plate readers to track down Lopez’s car. Investigators also used information from Lopez’s cell phone to confirm he was driving on San Mateo at the time of the shooting. They said he returned to the scene three times. Judge Cindy Leos ruled to keep Lopez behind bars until his trial…
