Albuquerque police arrest accused car thief

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of Albuquerque’s most-wanted alleged car thieves is now in custody. Gilbert Serrano, 44, is the first suspect on the Albuquerque Police Department’s top 25 auto-theft list to be arrested this month. He’s got a lengthy rap sheet, with stolen vehicle convictions going back more than two decades. Police shared video of where they found him on Thursday.

Man accused of murder after crashing car with dead body inside east of T or C

Serrano can be seen walking into an El Modelo restaurant near Second Street and Avenida Cesar Chavez, then leaving the scene and getting pulled over for a traffic stop, where officers made the arrest.

Serrano was most recently charged back in February for yet another stolen vehicle, but KRQE News 13 is still awaiting details on what exactly he was arrested for on Thursday…
