CHIMAYO, N.M. (KRQE) – Friday marked Good Friday, which also marked the annual pilgrimage for thousands who make their way to El Santuario de Chimayo. It’s expected that 30,000 people will make their way to the holy site over the Easter weekend. It is long believed that the site’s dirt has healing properties. Many of the Catholic faith make this in honor of loved ones, friends, health, and for the faith itself.
