ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man was in court Friday to be sentenced for stabbing and killing someone on a city bus last year. Then 19-year-old Charles Madrid stabbed and killed 43-year-old Adrian Marthell after an altercation on an ABQ Ride bus near Central Ave. and Coors Blvd.

Earlier this year Madrid was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter. The court says Madrid ran to a nearby school he attended and told staff he got into a fight. Madrid was sent home and the principal called police, who arrested Madrid at his home. Marthell’s sister spoke at the sentencing hearing, saying even a year after his death, their family is still trying to navigate life without him.
