VIDEO: Semi-truck driver locks himself inside vehicle and plays music after chase by BCSO deputies

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A semi-truck driver was weaving through traffic before leading deputies on a chase and causing a major scene on the side of the interstate. It happened just hours after a crash on I-40 near Carnuel that killed a Bernalillo County deputy. While crews were still on scene directing traffic, a semi driver began cutting other cars off while driving at a high speed.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled over Taur Mourzagaliev, who they say was speeding through slow-moving traffic. In the early morning on February 24, deputies were directing traffic on I-40 near mile marker 170, still at the scene after one of their deputies, Sergeant Michael Schlattman, was killed during a traffic stop the evening before. Deputies said the semi driver maneuvered into the left shoulder lane and cut drivers off. One of the deputies can be heard saying the semi driver drove past him and cut off drivers while blaring his horn.

They said he was also traveling at a high speed with his headlights off. As he drove in front of other cars, drivers were forced to hit their brakes to avoid getting hit. Deputies said he then drove to the right shoulder lane to keep passing cars. That’s when deputies began chasing him until he eventually pulled over, but instead of surrendering, he locked himself inside the semi…
