ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old charged in connection with the death of 19-year-old Luis Ortiz in May 2025. Ortiz was found dead in a vehicle after being shot at during a confrontation. Police believe that Ortiz was trying to sell alcohol to a group of teens when the shooting happened near Starbucks on Rio Grande Blvd.
Son accused of killing mother in Rancho Viejo remains in custody
The teen is scheduled to appear in juvenile court on Wednesday. He is charged with first-degree murder. He is one of five teens charged in connection with the shooting.
