ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A new proposal making its way through Albuquerque City Council could re-allocate some of the city’s Public Safety Gross Receipt Tax.

Proposition R-26-29 was introduced Thursday night, and would add Albuquerque Community Safety and code enforcement into the mix as two new departments that receive money from this tax,while diverting where other organizations receive their funds from other categories. “So this is just about shifting money from one department, Health Housing and Homelessness, and moving that to ACS,” Albuquerque District 6 City Councilor Nichole Rogers said. “ACS can do the same thing through RFPs to put money out to the public, and those same organizations are applying for the same funding but in a different department.”…
