ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Body camera and dash camera video released by New Mexico State Police shows what led up to a deadly officer-involved shooting in Roswell earlier this year.
Person taken to hospital following shooting in southeast Albuquerque
On March 18, around 8:42 p.m., officers attempted a traffic stop near West Berrendo Road and Main Street; however, the driver, 64-year-old William Roberts, fled from NMSP. The vehicle entered a trailer park on N. Kentucky Avenue, where it came to a stop at a dead end.
Officers ordered Roberts to get out of the car, and that’s when NMSP said he pointed a gun at officers, as shown in the videos released by police. Officers fired at Roberts, killing him. No other injuries were reported.
