SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a solemn reminder of the risks facing New Mexico’s first responders on Friday. Hundreds of people turned out to remember a fallen police officer and deputy.

There were tears, moments of silence, and salutes in Santa Fe as families, fellow officers, and state leaders honored the two men who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Officer Cynthia Butler, from the New Mexico State Police, sang the National Anthem. The group New Mexico Fire and Police Pipes and Drums played the bagpipes and percussion. Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales said, “To the families of the fallen, while it is not easy to understand the pain of loss that you have endured, as a state, we humbly thank you for sharing your hero with us.”…
