DC man found guilty in 2019 shooting that left 1 dead, 2 hurt

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was found guilty Friday in connection with a deadly 2019 shooting, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO).

Alonzo Brown, 29, was found guilty of first-degree murder while armed, three counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, two counts of assault with intent to kill, and one count of conspiracy. The verdict comes after a May 2025 trial ended with a hung jury.

According to court documents, on Jan. 12, 2019, Brown and four co-conspirators associated with the Pentacles Apartment Complex or “Walkdown” group sought to avenge their friend, Shamar Marbury, who was killed 11 days prior.
