The team behind the popular Alexandria restaurant Matt and Tony’s has opened a new concept. Little Birdie, also located in Del Ray, promises to offer “farm-fresh chicken, seasonal ingredients, and honest cooking,” according to its website.
The menu offers lunch, dinner, and brunch. It specializes in innovative twists on chicken dishes and sandwiches, including The Nug — a chicken nugget served with caviar and chives.
Chicken sandwiches are served on a Japanese milk bun. Variations include the Got’ Chu, a spiced chicken thigh served with gochujang glaze and pickled daikon scallion slaw, and the Smoked Chix Salad, which includes with barbecue sauce, picked grapes, celery salad, tomato and tarragon…
