WASHINGTON (7News) — Police in Washington, D.C., said a man was arrested Thursday following a violent domestic assault at a northwest apartment that left a one-year-old child and a woman injured.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), officers responded around 5:10 p.m. to the 1300 block of Shepherd Street NW after a report of a domestic assault. When they arrived, they found a woman, as well as an infant girl who had been injured.
According to a police report, MPD said the woman told officers she had been assaulted by the child’s father. The report states the man “kicked the door open” to the apartment, chased the woman after she fled with the child, began to strike the woman several times to the face and right rib area while she was holding the baby…
