Maryland recently rolled out new chip-enabled Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards to those receiving Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Now other states are following suit.
WTVB reports that more than 699,000 households in Michigan will receive these new EBT cards now through next month. Massachusetts will start sending out such cards this month as well, according to Boston.com, and the Virginia Department of Social Services announced that SNAP beneficiaries in Old Dominion will be sent theirs starting in September; these cards should be hitting Virginia residents’ mailboxes from October through December…
