From $219,000 to $2.9 million: Homes sold in Alexandria last week

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Thirty-five homes closed in Alexandria in the last week, ranging from a $219,000 one-bedroom at The Fountains to a $2.9 million new-construction house in Beverly Hills, according to data from Redfin. The average sale price was $850,747 across an average of 1,711 square feet, or a blended $497 per square foot. The median sale price was $740,000.

It was the busiest week in the seven the Brief has tracked, with 35 closings against 21 the week before and a previous high of 22 in mid-July. The average fell from $925,276 and the blended rate per square foot dipped from $521 to $497.

The extra volume came from the middle. Ten homes sold above $1 million and 11 sold below $500,000, but 14 closed in between — a band that held only five sales the week before. Condominiums accounted for 20 of the 35 closings, with 11 townhouses and four detached houses, and 18 of the sales were in the 22314 ZIP code covering Old Town and Carlyle…
