Kaptur returns to Washington six weeks after hit-and-run crash

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur heads back to Washington on Monday, six weeks after a hit-and-run crash landed her in a hospital on Aug. 2.

Kaptur, 80, was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Her campaign manager was driving them to a church service when the other car hit them on North Detroit near Central Avenue.

“All of a sudden, in a split second, that car turned 90 degrees east, like a cruise missile headed toward us,” Kaptur said. “No wheels on the ground, flying. I had never seen a flying car in my life.”…
