Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) firefighters responded to two fires in Chevy Chase Monday afternoon, one at the Wisconsin Place Apartments at 4440 Willard Ave., and another a short time later at the Collection at Chevy Chase office building in the 5000 block of Wisconsin Avenue.
According to MCFRS radio transmissions, the initial report for the first fire was dispatched shortly before 12:45 p.m. Food on a stove in an apartment caught fire and created a haze in the hallway, according to a message at 12:50 p.m. The fire appeared to have reached the cabinets slightly but appeared to be out, a firefighter said in a transmission. No one was injured, according to a transmission confirming that the fire was out at 1:04 p.m.
