WASHINGTON (7News) — D.C. police identified the man accused of shooting a National Guard soldier who was trying to break up a fight late Sunday as 41-year-old Jerrell Jackson, of Southeast D.C.
According to authorities, Guard members were sitting in a van when they saw a fight on the sidewalk in the 400 block of 8th Street, SE, and got out to intervene around 11:10 p.m. One of the men involved in the fight pulled out a gun and began shooting, investigators said.
