‘Motherly love’: Singer Cat Janice enters hospice; last song proceeds go to 7-year-old son

As she enters hospice, Cat Janice is giving her 7-year-old son a special way to remember her.

The 31-year-old Washington, D.C. singer was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare malignant tumor in 2021, and has endured a daunting battle since. On Jan. 15, she announced that her cancer has progressed, making it impossible for her to speak, and that she is now home in hospice.

Janice released ” Dance You Outta My Head ,” a disco-pop song with love undertones, on streaming platforms on her birthday, Jan. 19. Days later she learned the track charted on iTunes at No. 7 worldwide, made it to No. 1 in Romania, Ireland, and the Czech Republic, and reached No. 12 in the U.S.

“I am in complete shock,” Janice wrote on Instagram . “I woke up cause my med pump was beeping and I happened to check my phone to witness this absolute miracle of God saving my life for a few days to show me his power and incredible mastery of peace and trust in my life.”

The proceeds of the song streams will go to her son Loren’s future. The track has over half a million streams on Spotify.
