Expectant Dad 19, Crushed To Death While Working On Car In Virginia: ‘Tragic Accident’

Those who knew Javier Arevalo say he died doing what he loved.

The 19-year-old Woodbridge man was working underneath his vehicle on the 13400 block of Greenacre Drive in Woodbridge on Monday, Jan. 22, when the car fell on top of him, pinning him underneath, the Prince William County Police Department said.

Fire and rescue responded and confirmed the death, and no signs of foul play were reported. The cause of death has not been confirmed and will be pending an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Meanwhile, two GoFundMe campaigns have been launched for Arevalo’s family, including his unborn baby.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that that our oldest, Javi, has passed on, leaving us grief stricken,” Karen Lazo writes on one campaign. “Javi had a passion for cars and speed, he was always a sweet loving kid and remained that way as a young adult.

“We ask that in lieu of flowers, consider making a donation towards the funeral costs to help us honor his memory the way he deserves. We are also asking for donations to help support his unborn child’s future.”
