Teenage boy arrested for armed robberies in DC

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrested a teenager who they say robbed a man and woman at gunpoint.

The suspects approached a man and a woman as they walked down the street in the 1800 block of Vermont Ave., NW at about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded property from the victims – they complied.

The suspects fled the scene.

A 14-year-old boy from Northwest D.C. was arrested and charged with armed robbery. He was also charged for a separate robbery that happened on Dec. 20, 2023.

In that incident, police say suspects approached the victims at about 3:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Florida Ave., NW. One of the suspects had his hands in his pocket – as if he was armed – and took property from one of the victims. They then fled the scene.

These cases are still under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call MPD at (202) 727-9099 or text 50411. MPD is offering a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved.
