Police identify woman found shot to death in car in Woodbridge; dog found with her

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police said they were investigating a deadly shooting that took place in the Woodbridge area on Friday.

The Prince William County Police Department said officers went to Bronson Court and Brickwood Drive shortly after 2 a.m. to investigate a shooting. When police arrived, they found Egypt Zapporah Carter, 23, of Burlington, N.C. shot inside a car. She died there.

Police also found a dog inside the car. The dog was not hurt. Animal control officers picked up the dog.

Detectives said they were working to determine what led up to the shooting and asked anyone who may be able to help the investigation to call (703) 792-6500 or submit a tip online .
