Fairfax County music teacher wins Grammy award

ANNANDALE, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A music teacher at Annandale High School won the 2024 Grammy Music Educator Award.

Students and colleagues joined Annie Ray, the orchestra director at the high school, for a watch party on Thursday, according to a news release from Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).

“Most of all I want to thank my students to whom this award actually belongs,” Ray said at the watch party in a news release. “The love of making music has been our unity and community. Thank you all for allowing me to guide you in this, I am humbled to accept this award for you all.”

“Annie is known for her passion, skill, and belief that every student can achieve greatness. Her impact and dedication has made a positive difference in the school community. She truly is an inspiration, and we are so proud of her,” Annandale High School Principal Shawn DeRose said.
