Recalling the infamous 2002 F-4 tornado’s 64-mile path through Maryland

LA PLATA, Md. (7News) – On Sunday, April 28, 2002, the D.C. area was under a “moderate risk” for severe weather. The region would be struck by one of the strongest tornadoes ever recorded hours later in the Mid-Atlantic, and the strongest since another F-4 tornado struck Frostburg, MD four years earlier.
