Decomposed Body Found Near Wildlife Refuge In Northern VA: Police

Prince William County have launched a death investigation after a decomposed body was found in Woodbridge, they said.

The harrowing discovery was made just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5 on Dawson Beach Road near Highams Court, police said. The Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge is located along Dawson Beach Road near Highams Court.

A Good Samaritan saw the body in a wooded area and called police.

“The body was in a decomposed state and transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death,” county police said. “At this time, there is no threat to the community concerning the death.”
