Thunderstorms possible Sunday afternoon and evening

RICHMOND, Va. — A few lingering showers will quickly fizzle tonight, with patchy clouds and a little fog possible overnight. Lows will be in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Sunday will have a mix of clouds and sun. It will be muggy with highs in the upper 80s to around 90. Scattered storms will develop in the afternoon and turn more numerous later on into the evening. Storms will produce heavy rain and potentially strong, gusty winds. We are currently in a marginal risk area for severe weather.

Clouds will linger early Labor Day morning, with a few showers possible to the south. However, skies should clear quickly as much drier air moves into the region. It will be much less humid during the afternoon, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

The early mornings will be cool during the midweek period, with lows in the mid and upper 50s across Metro Richmond. Lows will be around 60 near the coast, and a few outlying areas to the northwest could dip to near 50. The afternoons will be comfortable and dry, with plenty of sunshine and low levels of humidity. Highs will be in the upper 70s and low 80s.
