Severe Weather Developing Across Parts of North Carolina & Virginia

Heavy Showers & Storms Impacting Parts of Long Island & Southeast New England

09/01/24 4:11pm ET

Good afternoon everyone. As expected, we are seeing trouble spots popping up across the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic as far as heavy showers and thunderstorms; some of which have reached severe limits.

Down in parts of North Carolina in the Raleigh area, heavy showers and storms have had a history of 60mph wind gusts and some wind damage. For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in the area until these storms pass. If storms hold together, look for those warnings to move east/northeast with these cells.

We are also seeing the same for the North Carolina/Virginia border in the Roanoke Rapids area, where we are seeing similar reports of damaging wind and isolated hail. While we don’t see any severe thunderstorm watches at this time, you should expect isolated severe weather to continue for the rest of the afternoon into the evening as we still have more action to the west.
