Paraglider Pilot Dies on Lucky Hill

FAUQUIER COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a fatal paraglider crash that killed a Springfield man on Friday. 

According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred September 20, 2024.

At approximately 6:36 p.m. , a paraglider attempted to fly directly over a power plant smokestack when it lost control and struck the ground on Lucky Hill Road.

The paraglider pilot, Robert N. Eaheart Jr., 77, died at the scene. No one on the ground was injured as a result of the crash.

Eaheart’s remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Manassas for an autopsy and examination.   

The FAA and NTSB were notified and the crash remains under investigation.
