Capitol Heights man killed in Southeast DC shooting, investigation underway

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Detectives are working to determine what led to the shooting death of a Capitol Heights man in Southeast D.C. on Monday morning.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said, around 9:41 a.m., officers were called to the 4100 block of Southern Avenue, just outside of Maryland, for a shooting.

There, they found 34-year-old Dominic Johnson, of Capitol Heights, Md., suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said Prince George’s County Fire and EMS personnel tried to save Johnson, but he died at the scene.

As of Oct. 8, no arrests had been made in connection with this case, and police are encouraging anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or text MPD’s Text Tip Line at 50411.

MPD said it is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
