Judge finds Virginia man accused of killing mother, sister not guilty; report says

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A man charged with killing his mother and sister in Burke, Va. in 2021 was found not guilty, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

According to the Washington Post’s report, 37-year-old Bradley Lister submitted a not-guilty plea that a Fairfax County judge accepted by reason of insanity.

Court records confirm he was found Not Guilty because of Insanity on two counts of First Degree Murder.

The Washington Post said that prosecutors also “decided not to pursue two of the felony gun charges against him.”

DC News Now previously reported that Lister was charged with shooting and killing his mother, Susan Lister, and sister, Amber Curry on Aug. 17, 2021. Police found the victims’ bodies on Aug. 21, 2021, after another one of Lister’s sisters called for a wellness check.

Police said that Lister fled the area after the killings. He was eventually found in Baltimore, where he was arrested.
