16-year-old killed in double shooting in Southeast DC

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — A boy was killed and a man was hospitalized after being shot in the middle of the afternoon on Friday in Southeast D.C.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), officers responded to the shooting in the 2800 block of Langston Place SE at about 4:20 p.m. There, a 16-year-old boy and a man had been shot.

MPD said one of them was unconscious and not breathing – the other was conscious and breathing.

Responders took both of the victims to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

In an update made later in the evening, MPD confirmed that the 16-year-old had died.

The 2700-2800 blocks of Langston Place SE between Raynolds Place and Ainger Place SE are closed as MPD investigates.

MPD said to look out for a man who was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the back. He was reportedly armed with a handgun.
