WASHINGTON (7News) — Metro leaders said this week that a plan to build a second tunnel under the Potomac near Rosslyn and expand the Blue Line is simply too expensive, so they are now planning faster, less expensive ways to help move people around in that area.
One of the things they are planning is something no other major transit system in the country has done.
In 2023, 7News first reported about a proposal to build a Blue Line Loop – or “Bloop” – in which the Blue Line would separate from the Orange and Silver lines and have its own tunnel under the Potomac River.
