WASHINGTON (7News) — A Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) officer was punched by an armed fare evader on Wednesday while trying to take him into custody, according to a court affidavit.
The suspect, 20-year-old Zion Peters, had a warrant out for his arrest through Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for attempted first-degree murder in March 2024. The MTPD officer’s testimony of the incident said Peters escaped police when he found out he was under arrest and punched the officer on the cheek.
