Man who tried to carjack deputy US Marshal in unmarked vehicle gets prison sentence

WASHINGTON — A young man will spend the next decade behind bars after he tried to carjack a deputy U.S. Marshal in July last year. Kentrell Flowers pleaded guilty to firearm charges in February.

On July 5, 2024, just after 1 a.m., two deputy U.S. Marshals were working a protective detail in an unmarked vehicle in the 2100 block of 11th Street Northwest. That’s when Flowers, along with an unknown accomplice pulled up in a Silver minivan, court documents say.

Flowers got out of the van, and pointed a loaded Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol at the marshal sitting in the driver’s seat…
