WASHINGTON — Friday night saw an increased police presence in DC’s Navy Yard neighborhood after a chaotic teen takeover last weekend resulted in the arrest of three minors. One resident has been taking a different approach in trying to prevent something like that from happening again.
Chi Chi Williams, a lifelong Washingtonian and five-year resident of Navy Yard, is pounding the pavement to better her neighborhood. She’s attempting build a tighter bond with her neighbors, organizing several community walks throughout the long weekend — even letting local businesses in on the effort.
“Just talk to them and let them know, what are their ideas for the community,” said Williams. “What are concerns that they have, and I’ll be able to take that information to the ANC and provide that to them to see if we can come up with something.”…
