DC woman indicted after Metro bus robbery, stabbing

WASHINGTON — A late-night ride on a D.C. Metrobus turned terrifying back in January, and now the woman accused in the case has officially been indicted.

On Wednesday, a D.C. grand jury handed down an indictment against 29-year-old Tywanna Johnson of Washington, D.C. She’s facing a list of serious charges, including robbery while armed, assault with intent to rob while armed, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault resulting in significant bodily injury while armed, and felony threats.

The charges stem from a wild and violent incident that happened just before midnight on Jan. 22. According to prosecutors, Johnson was on a Metrobus, traveling through the area of 15th Street NE and Duncan Street NE, when she allegedly snatched another passenger’s cellphone right out of their hands…
