Two carjacking suspects arrested after crashing vehicle in Northeast DC, police say

WASHINGTON (7News) — Two suspects in a carjacking were arrested after a vehicle crash in Northeast D.C., said police.

Ira Shaw-Bates, 22, of Southeast, D.C., and Derrick Coltrane, 40, of Northeast, D.C. were arrested and charged with carjacking around 2:10 p.m. on Friday, said the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Shaw-Bates and Coltrane allegedly approached a victim while they were in the car, demanding the keys and property. The victim gave the keys and the two men fled in the victim’s car around 12:19 p.m., said MPD…
