Extreme heat warning, watch issued in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — An extreme heat warning will go into effect in Alexandria on Monday morning as a heat wave is expected to raise temperatures to 100 degrees.

The City of Alexandria announced the heat warning will go into place at 11 a.m. and remain in effect until 9 p.m. on Monday, June 23. The National Weather Service has also issued an extreme heat watch covering the same time frame on Tuesday.

This comes as the heat index value is expected to go up to 110 degrees over the next two days.
