WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A 17-year-old is being charged as an adult in a fatal hit-and-run in D.C. from May. He was arrested on Tuesday.
Vehicle in fatal DC hit-and-run believed to be involved in 2 robberies
On May 7, around 4:15 a.m., D.C. police responded to the intersection of 12th Street and U Street, Northwest, for the report of a crash. Upon arrival, officers found a man lying in the roadway unconscious and not breathing after being hit by a vehicle. The man, identified as 55-year-old Donnel Bracket Phillips, died at the hospital.
The preliminary investigation indicates Phillips was struck by a white Hyundai Santa Fe while in a marked crosswalk at the intersection. The striking vehicle fled the scene, according to police.
On Tuesday, 17-year-old Kyree Young of Southeast, DC, was charged as an adult under Title 16, with first-degree murder while armed.…
