The Metropolitan Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a homicide that shook Southeast D.C. early Friday morning. The incident, which resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man, took place in the 4200 block of 4th Street, according to a press release from the Metropolitan Police Department official website.
Police were summoned to the area following a disturbance report at around 1:54 a.m., when they discovered Deandre Lewis inside an apartment, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound; DC Fire and EMS arrived shortly thereafter but despite all efforts, his life could not be saved and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased was later confirmed to be Deandre Lewis from Northeast, D.C., whose untimely demise now leaves a void in the community and an open wound in the heart of his family.
